Our state-of-the-art facilities on our 80-acre campus and LALIGA-Certified Coaches ensure that aspiring footballers receive top-notch training following the principles and techniques that have produced some of the world’s greatest players.
The LALIGA ACADEMY Malaysia welcomes players from 8 to 18 years of age to train under the guidelines of the LALIGA Methodology, whilst completing their full-time education, including IGCSEs and A-Levels, at Epsom.

The LALIGA methodology is a structured football training process that covers four key areas of focus:
This comprehensive methodology, supported by over 100 training concepts, ensures players are not only technically skilled but also tactically astute, mentally strong and physically robust.
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Diego Gutierrez Ramos is the appointed Technical Director and Head Coach of the LALIGA ACADEMY Malaysia. He joined LALIGA in 2018 with an REFEF Professional Coaching – UEFA Pro license, a background in Sports Science, and Master’s Degrees in Teaching and Football Analytics & High Performance.
Prior to joining the Academy, Diego worked as a Technical Director, Scout of U12-U19 players and Master Trainer for LALIGA partnerships in the USA, Nigeria, Mexico, Canada and Spain. As Technical Director, Diego ensures that LALIGA’s leading training concepts are appropriately disseminated for the comprehensive development of youth football players at Epsom.
THE PROGRAMMES
- Competitions and games are typically held outside of school hours.
- Fitness, tactical video-sessions and theory are held 4 days a week to complement pitch training.Â
- Individual termly reports will be distributed to track progress.Â
- Players will receive a compilation of game recordings for playback and match highlights.
THE TRAINING
Training is divided into blocks that focus on areas such as strength and endurance. Each age group follows a monthly plan specifically designed to meet competitive and performance objectives effectively.
Weekly training will consist of 3 days of intense training for U12-U14 and 5 days for U16-U19 (for 2 hours daily). Drills and training intensity will adapted based on the age groups and competitive schedules to ensure proper recovery.Â

LALIGA GRASSROOTS
This initiative is based on four main elements: the integral development of young players, international training programmes for coaches and other professionals in the sector, support for LALIGA clubs in terms of youth academies, and the organisation of international tournaments.
LALIGA Grassroots is a new step in the development of sporting projects, an area in which LALIGA has mobilised more than 900 coaches since 2015, training more than 25,000 coaches and 200,000 players through more than 640 projects carried out in 48 countries.

LALIGA Grassroots was created in 2021 with the main objective of supporting, promoting and boosting grassroots football around the world.
